Christmas Fun

Today in our Cybersmart lesson we were learning how to use our iPads to find images on the web that we can reuse. We had to use the search tools and select creative commons. We could use dictation as well to enter our search items which was a lot quicker than typing the words.

We searched for Christmas images. Then we used iMovies and recorded ourselves talking.

Here is one of our movies. You can view more movies on our class site here.

Kapa Haka

Today in our Cybersmart lesson we made movies about Kapa Haka. We learned how to save photos from the class site and how to add them to a movie. We recorded ourselves talking about our Kapa Haka experience.
Here is Mackenzie's movie. To see more movies visit our Kapa Haka page on our class site here

Being Sunsmart

This term we have to wear a hat when we go outside at school. We have got lots of shady places to sit and eat and to play in.

We used iMovie to create a movie about being sunsmart at school. We worked with a buddy to take photos. Then we addd the photos to iMovie. We recorded our voices in iMovie as well. Some of us added titles as well to our movie.

Do you have to wear a hat at school? Do you have sunsmart places to play?

Here are some of our movies.

Space Quiz

This week in our Cybersmart lesson we created an interactive quiz about Space in Scratch Jnr.

We had to think of a question and 3 answers. 2 answers had to be incorrect and one answer correct. When we coded the quiz we made sure that the player would know if they were correct or incorrect. If they tapped the correct answer it would say something to tell them it was right. And if they tapped the incorrect answer it would tell them that they needed to try again.

We had lots of different questions in our quiz like "What is the biggest planet? and "How many planets are there in the solar system?"

Games in Scratch Jnr.

Today we were using Scratch Jnr to create a game with 2 sprites.

We could add text in and use the characters we wanted to.

Here is Natalie's work... can you see how she has included her friend in her game?

Sprites in Space

This week in our Cybersmart lesson we were working in Scratch Jnr again. Today we learned how to make the astronaut sprite look like us by inserting our face using the camera. We had to create our own alien using the paint editor. We also learned how to record our voices so we could make our sprites talk.

Then we put in the code blocks so they didn't talk at the same time and we used the motion code blocks to make the sprites move. We will carry on with this project next week so we can make the sprites do something together in space.

Here is Adele's work from today...

Sea Sprites

Today we were learning how to use Scratch Jnr on our iPads.
Scratch is a coding app that we can use to be creative.
Today we made an underwater scene and added sprites.
We had to make our sprite move in a square.
We had to test and debug a lot of times to get it right.
Some of us were able to make 2 sprites move and it looks like they are having a race.
Here are some screen recordings of your work...

Tuhi Mai Tuhi Atu

We looked at our blogging buddie's class blog today.
They are Rūma Pūkeko in Hokitika.
We looked at the map to find out where they live.
Here is the map showing Hokitika and Gisborne.
They are a long way apart and it would take a long time to drive there. You would need to get the ferry across Cook Strait.
Have you ever been to Hokitika?
